Plan for one adult Pogona vitticeps.
Space and access
RSPCA Australia describes an adult enclosure 1.2-1.8m long, 0.6m wide and 0.6-0.9m high. It recommends individual housing, climbing branches and rocks; newspaper or paper towels are listed flooring options.
SPCA New Zealand calls for a cover, ventilation and a hide fitting the whole animal. Check closure and access before adding equipment.
Build a gradient
The RSPCA care sheet gives these targets:
| Location or period | Target |
|---|---|
| Basking zone | 38-42 degrees C |
| Cool end | 22-26 degrees C |
| Night | 20-22 degrees C minimum |
| Cool-end humidity | 30-40% |
Guard heat and UV lamps. Use thermostatic control plus independent thermometers at both ends. Place UVB toward the warm end and follow its maker's distance/replacement instructions. Measure UVI at animal height: 3-5 at basking, zero in shade. Use 12-hour light/dark periods.
Test before arrival
Add hides at both ends, cool-end shallow fresh water and a sand/soil digging box. Before arrival, run and adjust heat, lighting and humidity for at least a week.
Resolve equipment compatibility through its own instructions; our thermostat guide addresses that separate task.
