Offer the opportunity and let your parrot's response decide whether to continue.
Prepare a voluntary bath
The Association of Avian Veterinarians advises against bathing a cold or unwell bird; consult your avian vet about illness. Offer an uncovered shallow bath the bird can stand in. Use clean, fresh, lukewarm water; change dirty water and add no soaps or other additives.
Or offer indirect mist
RSPCA UK describes a fine mist of plain, room-temperature water in the morning.
AAV suggests directing mist upwards so droplets fall, rather than aiming at the bird.
Accept an exit
Medical Center for Birds recommends stopping when a bird does not participate, then reconsidering difficulty, rewards or session length before trying later.
Stop if your bird moves away. Never force bathing or use water spray as punishment.
Leave time to dry
Offer early enough for drying before sleep. Let your parrot preen and dry naturally away from cold and draughts.
