When deciding how to clean a cat exercise wheel, check its running surface as well as the wheel itself.

Identify the surface

Find the exact maker, model and pad material. Check its care instructions before selecting a cleaning method.

Use the applicable cleaning method

One Fast Cat's short cleaning FAQ permits a wet-towel wipe or a hose-down for its wheel. That permission is a starting point, not approval for every attached surface. Identify the pads before choosing between those methods.

It describes felt as poorly resistant to water and says accumulated fur may need vacuuming. Its foam pads can be wiped or hosed, but are not fully waterproof. Keep these permissions with the named pad material rather than assuming the whole assembly can be soaked.

For G5, ZiggyDoo specifies cleaning with soapy water. Use that permission with its matching care instructions, rather than as a recipe for another model.

Check before returning the wheel

ZiggyDoo's G5 maintenance document separately addresses ring joints, skatewheels and the base. It directs owners to seek help with unusual findings. Use the matching care checks for the actual unit; do not transfer another model's fasteners, movement checks or adjustment. A clean appearance does not show that these questions are resolved.

Keep the wheel unavailable until the applicable drying, reassembly and care questions are resolved; do not test it with your cat.

For separate tasks, see initial assembly and voluntary wheel learning.
