Export a pet tracker's location history through the exact service's documented export tool, after checking the tracker, period and file format you intend to save. Keep enough context with the downloaded file to identify what you requested. A saved history is a record to interpret, rather than a fresh location update or proof of a continuously observed journey.

The Tractive example below describes its published web-app procedure. Other services need their own current instructions; a tracker photograph or a familiar-looking menu does not establish which export controls or permissions your account has.

Check history retention and export access separately

Tractive's subscription FAQ currently lists 365-day location history and history export for Premium. It lists 24-hour history for Basic, without the export feature. The page also says Basic is available only in selected countries and that some features depend on tracker models.

Those published plan descriptions are not a check of your own account or a promise that every past position is available. Confirm the current service, tracker and plan information applicable to you before following an export procedure. This guide does not require you to buy or change a subscription.

Decide what copy you actually need

Write down the intended tracker and the start and end of the period before opening export controls. This prevents a file being mistaken for another pet's record or for a different outing. Keep your requested period separate from the date on which you download it.

Choose a format using the requirements of the place where you intend to read the file. Check those requirements directly rather than assuming that two offered formats will display identically. Changing a filename's extension is not a format conversion.

Use the documented Tractive web-app export

Tractive's export instructions describe downloading a Premium tracker's history as GPX or KML:

  1. Visit my.tractive.com and sign in to your own account.
  2. Open Trackers & Subscription Plans, then select the intended tracker.
  3. Choose Export Location History on the left.
  4. Select GPX or KML and the intended timeframe. The documented maximum is 60 days per export.
  5. The source describes the file downloading to your computer.

The same article provides an alternative route through Tracker History: select the tracker, open History, choose the period on the bottom bar, then use Export and select the format.

The single-export window is different from a plan's history-retention period. The documented window does not promise that every requested point exists.

Identify the downloaded copy before relying on it

Locate the file your browser saved and keep it with a short note of the request. Give the copy a name you can distinguish later, while preserving its actual file type. Useful context includes:

  • Source: the service and tracker you selected.
  • Requested period: the start and end shown during the export.
  • Format: the option you chose.
  • Download context: when you saved it and any limitation or message you observed.

These are notes about your request, not a claim that the downloaded file contains particular fields. If its contents or time labels are unclear, use the service's documentation or support. Do not assign an assumed timezone or add missing coordinates to make the record fit an expected route.

Keep a fresh download distinguishable from an earlier copy. Two exports in different formats are also not two independent observations of the journey. They may be alternative copies of the same service history.

Exporting does not create a more detailed original history

Tractive's Default and LIVE Tracking explanation describes different detail in location history. Default updates vary with activity, and the source says positions are not reported in a Power Saving Zone. It describes LIVE history as more detailed.

That helps explain why a saved record should not be treated as every turn of a continuously observed route. Downloading history does not retroactively record movements that were absent from the available observations.

Resolve a missing control or an unclear result

If the actual view differs from the matching instructions, record the tracker, service, plan information, selected period and the message or control you saw. Give that specific question to the provider. Do not treat an absent download as a successful export, or an unavailable button as evidence about what every other brand can do.

Keep the export question separate from interpreting a reported position. Our GPS tracker explanation covers location delivery and history versus current updates. If you are considering cellular GPS pet trackers, compare each exact service's documented history and export arrangements; a category does not verify them.

The useful result is a clearly identified copy of the history you requested, with unresolved gaps still marked as unresolved. It is not confirmation of a pet's present location, the accuracy of every point or a complete journey.
