Sharing a pet GPS tracker means granting someone a particular kind of access, then knowing where to review and end it. In Tractive's documented system, Family Sharing and Public Sharing are different routes. Removing a family member is not the same action as stopping a public location link.
This guide follows three official Tractive help pages from one publisher. It describes the legitimate owner's access-management task, rather than transferring ownership, replacing hardware or changing an account's password.
Decide what the recipient needs before creating access
Identify the intended pet and tracker first. Then decide whether the recipient needs access through their own app account or a shareable location link. Do not treat both as an undetailed “shared” state: they have different recipients, capabilities and stopping controls.
Check the feature information applicable to your account. A support page describing Premium is not a confirmation that your own plan includes it, and this guide does not require you to buy or change a subscription. If the controls are absent or the account identity is uncertain, resolve that with the provider before proceeding.
Grant, review and remove Family Sharing
Tractive's Family Sharing instructions require the owner to have Premium. The recipient needs their own free Tractive account and the mobile app; they do not need their own Premium plan.
- Choose the intended contact or copy the invitation text using the offered route.
- The recipient opens that invitation and signs in to their own account; the pet then appears in their app.
The same page describes reviewing access through the pet's Family Members invitation screen. To revoke a person's access, find them in the member list, choose Remove and confirm the removal. Tractive says the pet will no longer appear in that person's app, and the person will not receive a removal notification.
Keep invitation and acceptance separate in your notes. Sending an invitation does not establish that the intended person accepted it. Likewise, record the member you selected when removing access rather than describing every sharing route as closed.
Understand what a family member can do
Tractive's permissions table distinguishes owner and family roles. Both can view the location and history and use LIVE tracking. Managing virtual fences, Power Saving Zones, the subscription and membership remains with the owner.
The page also explains that some features become unavailable to everyone in a Power Saving Zone, while weak cellular reception or missing GPS can gray out LIVE tracking. An unavailable control is therefore not, by itself, evidence that sharing has been revoked.
Use the actual member list to answer an access question. A missing location update answers a different question about what the service is currently displaying. Do not ask someone to operate a tracker feature merely to demonstrate their permissions.
Manage a Public Sharing link separately
Tractive's Public Sharing page also specifies Premium. This route supplies a link for people without Tractive accounts to view the tracker's location and change the map view.
For its mobile-app route, select the intended tracker on the map, swipe up the lower bar, choose Share location, then Share Tracking Link and follow the instructions. The stopping control on that screen is Stop Sharing Location.
The documented web route at my.tractive.com uses Trackers and Subscription Plans, the selected tracker, then Sharing. Under the public option, use Get Shareable Link; its stopping control is End Share.
Review the public route even if you have already removed a family member. These instructions do not establish that one action cancels the other, or that stopping access erases screenshots, exports or copies someone previously saved.
A useful access note identifies the tracker, sharing method, intended recipient or link context, action taken and resulting view. Keep real device identifiers and location links private. If the view does not match the instructions, give support the specific discrepancy rather than assuming a complete revocation occurred.
For a different task, our GPS tracker explanation separates position delivery from account access. Compare cellular GPS pet trackers using each service's documented roles; a generic equipment photograph cannot establish who can view a particular account.
