To understand how to reset Tractive GPS, first separate an ordinary power restart from the reset described in the instructions for your actual device. A reset label does not, by itself, mean factory data erasure, password recovery or release from an account. Identify the model and the problem before choosing a button sequence.

This guide concerns a tracker you own and have with you. It follows Tractive's documented power and reset routes, with a separate Weenect comparison showing why instructions cannot be transferred between systems. It is not a procedure for remotely restarting a missing tracker.

Match the model, document and intended result

Find the exact model in the device documentation and locate the corresponding current instructions. Do not identify it solely by its shape, a pet nickname or an old product photograph. Note whether your question concerns physical power, a location-update problem, charging, account access or moving an existing service.

Resolve a charger or power-source question before attempting an instruction that requires charging equipment. The tracker charging guide keeps model-specific chargers and indications separate.

Distinguish a power restart from Tractive's hard reset

Tractive's on/off article describes holding the device's power button for three seconds to turn it on or off. Its brief power-state check uses a press shorter than three seconds, with a beep and light indicating that the device is on. The page says power cannot be switched remotely. Apply that document only when it matches your equipment.

The separate No GPS troubleshooting article places a hard reset after moving outside and waiting has not resolved location updates. Its written reset path requires the tracker to be on and connected to its charger, followed by ten quick button presses and a one-minute wait. Ten presses are not a ten-second hold.

That article explicitly says this hard reset does not erase data from the tracker.

Choose the route that matches both the documented equipment and the observed problem. Do not combine the power article's hold duration with the troubleshooting article's repeated presses. If the result differs from the matching instructions, keep that discrepancy for support instead of repeatedly trying unrelated reset recipes.

Keep another manufacturer's reset instructions separate

Weenect's reconnection article distinguishes restarting from resetting and gives different reset durations by model: a ten-second hold for XS/XT, but thirty seconds for Cats²/Dogs², followed by its documented restart action. These are Weenect instructions, not alternatives for a Tractive reset. The article does not specify factory erasure or account effects. Do not assign Tractive's data statement to those models, or assume the same duration applies to every Weenect product.

Record the action and the resulting observation

Before following the matching route, make a short private record. Complete the result fields with what you actually observe, rather than marking the whole tracker “fixed” because you pressed a button.

  • Equipment: exact model, matching document and required charger, if applicable.
  • Purpose: power restart or the specific documented reset context.
  • Starting state: physical indication and the app's displayed status, recorded separately.
  • Action: the applicable sequence, prerequisites and time.
  • Result: observed light, sound or other documented response; later app status and its observation time.
  • Open question: a mismatch, missing model instruction or unconfirmed data/account effect.

A physical response and a fresh transmitted location are different checks. Our location-to-phone guide explains the separate positioning and communication path. Do not stage an animal's movement or treat a reset as a recovery guarantee.

If your real task is moving an existing active service, use the subscription-transfer guide instead of treating hardware reset as account management. Pawlivy's cellular GPS tracker category provides equipment context, without confirming a particular model, service or stock. Finish with the documented observation or a precise manufacturer question.
