A Tractive Offline message is a reason to check the selected tracker, its displayed status and the time of its last position before changing settings. Keep the label, the map point and any physical observation separate. An older location does not tell you where a pet is now, and a status label alone does not identify a failed component.
Start with the account and device you already use. This guide concerns an existing tracker's Offline display, rather than first activation, a charging procedure or a universal reset recipe.
Make sure you are looking at the intended device
Confirm the selected tracker and exact model from your own device information or documentation. If the account contains several trackers, do not rely only on a similar pet name. Note the phone platform and the app view in which the message appears.
Write down the status exactly as shown, the time you checked it and the timestamp attached to the displayed position. These may describe different moments. If a point remains in the same place while its timestamp is older, record both facts rather than marking the current position as confirmed.
Use the Offline guidance without assuming one cause
Tractive's dedicated Offline article explains cellular disconnection as a reason position updates cannot reach the app. Its first check is outside or in an open area; it does not establish that your particular tracker has reconnected.
The status guide gives a broader Offline explanation, including power, battery, network or GPS possibilities. Its other labels matter:
- Near You: a Bluetooth-related context near your phone.
- Power Saving: regular GPS reporting pauses within a Power Saving Zone; Network and GPS can show Paused.
- No GPS: the tracker cannot acquire a GPS signal.
Do not turn these descriptions into a diagnosis from the word Offline alone. If the exact label or view differs, keep that difference for the manufacturer. A paused reporting context and an unexplained loss of connection need different questions, even when neither view supplies a fresh position.
Separate phone reception from tracker coverage
Tractive's cellular coverage article says the tracker does not necessarily use the same networks or frequency bands as a smartphone. Phone signal bars therefore do not verify the tracker's connection.
Check the information for the actual model and region when coverage remains uncertain. Do not replace a missing specification with a network generation borrowed from another model. Also keep your phone's ability to display the app separate from the tracker's ability to send a position.
If the tracker is with you and you follow its matching outside-check instructions, note the place, conditions and observation time. Do not stage an animal's movement or treat a change of location as a promised fix. If the tracker is not with you, say so; you cannot report an unobserved physical indication.
Choose the next task without combining procedures
A charging question belongs with the model-specific charging and indication guide. A documented power restart or reset belongs with the Tractive reset guide, where model, purpose and button sequences remain distinct.
Do not assemble a new procedure from an old hold duration, a newer repeated-press instruction and an unfamiliar charger. Record what remains unresolved and obtain the matching directions. Repeated unrelated changes can make the starting condition harder to describe without showing why the original Offline message appeared.
Prepare a useful support record
The Offline article requests the observed LED colors and the date and time of its outdoor troubleshooting check when contacting support. Report only checks actually performed.
Keep one short record with these separate fields:
- Equipment: exact tracker model and selected account-device entry.
- App observation: exact status, check time and displayed position timestamp.
- Known context: whether the tracker was with you and which reporting or coverage conditions you could actually confirm.
- Physical observation: indications you saw, with their time and the matching check used.
- Open question: a persistent label, missing model instruction or difference between the display and your observation.
The location-to-phone explanation covers the separate positioning and transmission path. When reviewing cellular GPS trackers, keep that equipment context separate from a claim that this device has recovered its connection. Finish with a documented observation or a precise support question, rather than an assumed “fixed” result.
