Use the Tractive light or sound control through the instructions for your exact tracker and app. First distinguish a remote light command from a charging or connection-status indication. Then check whether the selected device can receive the command, how the feature stops and which timing information actually applies.

This guide follows Tractive's documented controls, with separate Weenect examples for checking model and app differences. An illuminated collar sold as a separate product needs its own instructions. For a light shown while charging, use the tracker charging and indication guide.

Identify the device and the feature before pressing anything

Start in the account you already use for the intended tracker. If it contains several devices, confirm the selected device's identity rather than relying on a similar pet name. Write down the exact model, phone platform and app view beside the instructions you are following.

Keep three observations separate: a light on the physical tracker, a selected light or sound control in the app, and a phone notification. They are different events. A command displayed on a phone does not establish that a nearby device lit up or made a sound.

Use Tractive's app controls and documented stop route

Tractive's combined light and sound guide gives this mobile-app route:

  1. Open Map and swipe up the bottom bar.
  2. Select Light or Sound.
  3. Tap the same control again to stop it.

It also describes the tracker's power button as a stop route and says sound volume cannot be adjusted. It lists a five-minute automatic sound stop.

The dedicated light article limits button activation to DOG 6, DOG 6 XL, DOG 6 XL Adventure and CAT 6 Mini: double-press quickly for light on, press once for off. Do not transfer that route to CAT Mini.

It requires an online tracker for app control and says light is unavailable in a Power Saving Zone. A grayed control calls for checking those conditions.

The two articles disagree on automatic light duration: the combined guide says 15 minutes; the dedicated article says a couple or few minutes. Do not choose a universal timer.

When a control is unavailable, record the displayed status and existing zone setting before asking support. Repeated commands do not explain why it is unavailable. Do not turn that observation into an improvised reset or a reason to change unrelated settings.

Keep Weenect's named XS route separate from its duration menus

Weenect's XS ringing and vibration article, updated in December 2023, says to select the XS in the app and use the ringtone/whistle or vibrating-phone icon on the right. Those functions require a connected tracker; they are unavailable offline or in airplane mode.

Its separate feature guide lists these menus:

  • Ringing or buzzer: 1, 2, 3, 5, 10 or 30 seconds.
  • Steady or blinking light: 1, 2, 5, 10 or 30 minutes.

That page requires connection and good network coverage but does not list supported models. It does not establish every menu for every XS version or give a universal manual-stop gesture.

Compare the actual model's instructions with the available controls. Keep seconds and minutes distinct. If the stopping method or available duration remains unclear, resolve it before starting rather than copying another brand's tap or button sequence.

Record the command, observation and stopping state separately

For ordinary use of a documented feature, keep a short note:

  • The selected tracker, exact model and matching instructions.
  • The requested feature, app status and any selected duration or mode.
  • The command time and what, if anything, you directly observed nearby.
  • The stop command or observed end, plus any difference from the display.

If you did not see or hear a result, write that observation without declaring the feature broken. Equally, seeing a light once does not establish its range, future availability or a location report. Do not stage an animal's response to check these controls.

The location-to-phone explanation covers the separate positioning and communication path. When browsing cellular GPS pet trackers, check the exact model's feature permissions rather than assuming every case has the same light, sound or control route.
