The recommended water depth is 7-8 inches. A new skimmer usually takes 1 or 2 weeks to break in. It is recommended to clean the pump every 1 or 2 months. This skimmer is NOT suggested to be used in nano aquariums. POINTS FOR ATTENTION CHECK THE SIZE OF YOUR AQUARIUM AND THE DIMENSIONS OF THIS SKIMMER PLEASE BEFORE PLACING AN ORDER. This skimmer is for Hang-on use ONLY. NOT for rimmed tanks It can be hanged either on the aquarium or the sump. But it can't stand in the sump on its bottom. The skimmer body is submerged in water, NOT outside the aquarium. Not only the pump but also the skimmer body should be submerged in water. It will take space in the aquarium if there's no hang-on filtering system at the back of the tank. As it's not a big skimmer, the volume of the reaction chamber is limited, patience is needed while adjusting to achieve the best effect.
